To protect our flock, we imported 21 original guardian dogs directly from reputable breeders in the Turkish towns of Kangal, Gürün, and Dendil-Gemerek.We are deeply grateful to our generous friends Abdurrahman Şişman and Zeki Öztürk for providing us with their finest stock. Today, our expansive pack actively guards our Maryland farm, working tirelessly against predators just as their ancestors did in the mountains of Anatolia.We responsibly sell our elite Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) puppies both nationwide and internationally.   History and Characteristics of the Breed  

The Kangal is a legendary working breed originating from the Sivas Province of Turkey. Documented as far back as the Babylonians and praised in the 17th-century travelogues of Evliya Çelebi, these dogs served as historical war and hunting companions. Historians believe the founders of the Ottoman Empire introduced them to Anatolia, later influencing many European shepherd breeds. They are uniquely famous for their ability to fend off wolves, earning immense prestige for the farmers who rely on them. Despite centuries of harsh conditions, the breed has preserved its distinct genetic traits and absolute purity due to its natural reluctance to mate with other breeds.

Physical Breed Standards

• Head & Expression: Large, lion-like skull supported by a muscular, thick-boned neck.
• Muzzle & Mask: Short, blunt muzzle with robust teeth and dropping lips. The nose, mouth, and eye areas feature a distinct black mask.
• Eyes: Small, rounded, vivid eyes ranging from gold to deep brown.
• Ears: Black, triangular, rounded at the tips, and dropping close to the head.
• Body Structure: Square, powerful, and athletic silhouette. Features a deep chest reaching elbow level and a slightly tucked abdomen.
• Legs & Feet: Heavy-boned legs with exceptionally powerful front limbs. Feet are large, curved, and padded in black.
• Tail: Set high. It carries low and curled in a relaxed state, but rolls tightly over the back when the dog is alert or stimulated.
• Coat & Color: Dense, short double-coat with a thick undercoat built for extreme weather. Colors range from light fawn and brown to steel gray, occasionally featuring a white medallion on the chest.
• Weight Standards: Males range from 130–160 lbs. females range from 95–130 lbs.
• Shoulder Height: Males stand 30”–34” tall; females stand 29”–32” tall.
